Nalini Tandon

I was born at Lucknow and brought up at Allahabad. Schooling from St. Mary’s Convent, Allahabad. Joined LHMC in July 1968 and passed out in December 1972.

After housejob in Gynae and Medicine I joined the Employees State Insurance Corporation- ESIC, Delhi.

Worked with ESIC for 34 years till retirement in 2009, at the age of 60, rising to the level of Deputy Medical Commissioner (all India) and State Medical Commissioner ( Karnataka). Did not join PG then due to family reasons.

However, restarted my studies along with job in the 1990s. In 1994 I completed a Post Graduate Certificate course in Family Welfare from The National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi.

In 1996 I completed another post graduate certificate course from this institute, this time in Health Administration.

In 2001-2003 I did the post Graduate Diploma in Health and Hospital Administration from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, and obtained the University Gold Medal.

As both my daughters were in USA I came to USA in 2010 and obtained a Green Card. I then joined MPH at the Washington University in St. Louis in 2013 and passed out in 2015.

I obtained US citizenship in 2016 and worked for 3 years with a firm dealing with veteran health. Thereafter I decided to take complete retirement from jobs.Since then I have been occupied with writing and painting.

I have published my memoirs ‘We were, We are’.
I have also published a book of Hindi poems - यादों की पंखुड़ियाँ
My third book - Living with a Diabetic Partner has been sent to the publisher.

My husband is an Engineer ( IIT Kharagpur) and retired as Director jet Shop from Indian Airlines. I have two daughters, elder is an architect cum software engineer and is the Managing Director, Deloitte. She stays in Virginia. The younger is a CFO and stays at Orlando. I have 4 grandchildren ranging in ages from 21 years to 13 years.

For the past 3 years I have been with LHMCAANA. Now I am a life member. I am a member of the book club and the melodies Club. I also help in the management of the episodes of both these groups. I am also a member of a third group Expressions which is not under LHMCAANA and help in creating puzzles there.
