I was born and raised in Delhi and fortunate enough to join Lady Hardinge Medical College in 1996.
I left India in 2003 to join Master of Public Health program at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health which trained me in epidemiology and biostatistics for a career in clinical research. Thereafter, I finished pediatrics residency from Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Wayne State University, Detroit, and Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology from Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh. During my clinical career, I worked as Pediatric Medical director at the Western New York Blood Care in Buffalo and was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. I was in clinical practice for eight years prior to joining AbbVie in 2020 as an Associate Medical Director at Abbvie in Clinical Development in oncology.
"Alma mater" in latin literally means "nourishing/bounteous mother" and Hardinge truly means that to me. It gave us the solid foundation and nurturing environment which gave us confidence and strength to be able to scale new heights in our careers. Hardinge for me was also a place where my most valuable relationships were made, friends who became more like family and my husband.
LHMCAANA provides a feeling of pride, strength and commitment. It resonates with my philosophy that we are all women of strength and this journey will make us stronger and united. I believe that LHMCAANA will not only bring us together but will contribute immensely in giving back to our alma mater and the country. The ultimate moment of pride for me was when after attending the recent LHMCAANA meet, my 7 year old daughter said " I want to grow up to be a Hardonian"! Amen!
