I have been in the USA since 1979 and am a Board Certified Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist. I retired as a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Virginia and Medical Director at Chesterfield Community Services Board. At present I am semi retired and working as a part time consultant Psychiatrist to Chesterfield County. I have also served as President of the Indo American Psychiatric Association, and chaired several committees including Cross Cultural Psychiatry, Women’s Issues, Spirituality and Midlife issues in Psychiatry. I am a distinguished Life Fellow of the APA, patron member of AAPI, life member of IAPA, LHMCAA and LHMCAANA. More recently I served on Nomination Committee of LHMCAANA in 2021.
My vision for the LHMCAANA nominating committee was and is to seek a slate of future leaders from a pool of LHMC alumni settled in North America that are driven and inspired by the vision and mission of an organization that represents a long tradition of empowered women physicians working together, to enrich the lives of the communities in which they live and work.
I also led the scholarship program for LHMC students. We have all benefited from a world class education at a premier institution that is Lady Hardinge Medical College. My vision for the Scholarship Committee is to expand the list of alumni, who are now able and willing to establish perpetual scholarships or sponsor the education of students at LHMC who are currently enrolled medical students, but are unable to afford the education. We are grateful for those who have already stepped forwards but welcome more of you to do so. These scholarships can be in honor of your loved one, your parents or yourself. We have identified partnerships that enable tax deductible sponsorships possible.
