My name is Jasleen and I don't think I ever considered a career in anything but pediatrics from my earliest memories of childhood. Babies were always my love and caring for them deeply my nature. So when I joined LHMC in 1976 as a 17 year old it was with the single minded idea of being a pediatrician. After completing my DCH from Safdarjang Hospital and having had my child, life took me by a long and mostly scenic route (with an MRCP enroute) to USA, which is where I have been since 1994.
I completed my residency in 1997 in Missouri and in 1998 settled in Cincinnati.
Somewhere along the way I started rethinking the role of medicine and modern lifestyles in health and wellness. I have of late worked very little as a pediatrician and, pursued the path of understanding wellness for our collective and individual future, which needs above all, a healthy habitable planet and healthy self. I have preached this message and tried to incorporate it into my personal life. The serendipitous entry of the LHMCAANA Meditation group into my life happened at an opportune time and I willingly agreed to be the scribe for the group for proposed quarterly LHMCAANA newsletter.
The meditation group started after a post on self hypnosis sessions and has since been led to include meditation and related practices. The three who have been very instrumental in the birth and evolution of the group are my respected seniors Arun Kalra, Kumkum Bhasin and Priti Seth. The group has been a resource for knowledge, understanding and support in my quest for equanimity, which I suspect is something I am not seeking alone.
