Madhuri ThotaI am writing to share my background and vision as a proud alumna of Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC). Coming from an Army background, my time at Hardinge starting in 1990 was the first period in my life where I remained in one location for more than three years. Following my residency in Family Medicine and a fellowship in Obstetrics, I have dedicated my career to serving vulnerable populations, including homeless and HIV+ patients, immigrants, and asylum seekers. My clinical work also extends to urgent care and international medical missions in Iraq, Haiti, and Hyderabad.
My education at a women’s medical college instilled in me a sense of confidence and fearlessness that has been central to my professional journey. Beyond the clinical training, Hardinge provided the freedom for young women to dream, and I feel a profound responsibility to pay that gift forward.
Through my involvement with LHMCAANA, I have been fortunate to expand my Hardinge family and build lifelong bonds with extraordinary women. My vision for the organization is to establish programs specifically geared toward empowering women and girls in India. Having received so much from our institution, I believe it is our collective responsibility to pass these opportunities on to others.
I look forward to continuing to foster these relationships and working together to achieve these goals.
