Mona Gupta

MD FAAHPM AGSF

I serve as the Director of Supportive and Palliative Oncology Inpatient at the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University. I am board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.

Locally and regionally, serving as Physician Lead for Onboarding Committee at University Hospitals, I have explored ways to enhance career development of new faculty along with standardizing physician orientation including wellness orientation. At the Cleveland Clinic, serving as the medical director of a brand new rehabilitation facility, program director palliative medicine at a nursing facility, associate medical director of hospice and helping start a new palliative medicine consult service in the community hospitals, I was designated chief of staff’s Most Valuable Person for the care of dying patients. My passion for enhancing and advancing academic women faculty's professional careers led me to serve as treasurer and chair of awards committee for Women Faculty at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine. I serve as Board of Directors for Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging.

I am a nationally recognized expert in geriatric palliative care, as affirmed through a Fellow designation at both the American Geriatric Society (AGS) and American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). As Global Palliative Care Advisory Group Member (2016-2018), we formed a new Global HPM SIG at AAHPM. I serve as chair-elect Geriatrics SIG within AAHPM and co-chair Palliative Care within both the AGS and Indo-American Cancer Association (IACA).

Internationally, we developed and implemented brand new six weeks standardized palliative care fellowship programs for physicians & nurses in India for IACA. I received the Rotary Paul Harris International Fellow award in recognition of my passion for serving rural Indian communities.

I serve in leadership roles with various non-profit organizations in the community. Partnerships with local stakeholders, multiple community organizations, and local media along with soliciting sponsorships was done by me as President 2018 for Association of Indian Physicians of Northern Ohio.

My Vision

I am currently serving as Chair of the Social Committee of LHMCAANA. I feel blessed to be part of such an enthusiastic, inspiring and uplifting group. The future of our organization is bright and with our collective efforts and collaboration we can promote women leadership and empowerment. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you and LHMCAANA.
