I, Poonam Dewan am working as a consulting family physician in Delhi. I joined LHMC in 1978 and graduated in 1982. I practice holistic medicine & have been in private practice, in old Delhi, for 35 years. I have also been associated with LIC for the past 15 years and have been a part of multiple social projects related to health care and nutrition. I have done multiple charitable health camps in Delhi and a village near Allahabad. I am the Vice President of a NGO called System Research Society, whose mission is to spread awareness through empowerment.
I say "music is life". Innumerable peer reviewed medical publications have proven the benefits of music in stress & pain reduction; it is also beneficial in preventing memory loss. With the advent of the pandemic, lifestyle medicine is stressing inculcation of music in our lives.
I believe that the LHMCAANA Melodies club has a potential to reach a wider generation of people due to the live singing and active participation of Hardonians and incomparable compering by Neelam Kohli. The club keeps the spirit alive by having a theme for the bi monthly Mehfils, during which members sing their hearts out and eagerly look forward to the next Mehfil. We are gradually becoming a family and we hope to see new faces and hear new voices at each Mehfil.
With all of us together like a family we can do something for our alma mater the only women’s medical College, now more than a hundred years old.
