Richmond Meet

  • 9 Oct 2021
  • 1:00 PM
  • Richmond, Virginia

Asha Mishra’ 72 and Arun Asha Kalra’64 hosted a get together in the Richmond area and it was magical. The fiesta started with LHMCAANA Melodies on Zoom and with a meditation session on ZOOM with a sumptuous lunch and soulful conversations in between.

A few words from the Hostesses:

Asha Mishra’ 72

Arun Asha Kalra and I (Asha Sharma Mishra) hosted a lunch meet and greet on October 9th, Saturday 1.00 pm, at my house. LHMCAANA in Virginia, DC and Maryland area were invited. Distances did not deter Hardonians, as some drove a long way and Kumkum Sood Bhasin flew in from Boston. It was a maiden attempt and a great first step. A few were unable to make it due to last minute challenges but those who made it, made up for the others. We had spirited chats and, trips down memory lanes and made new acquaintances! We had an Indian lunch including raita decorations by our very own Arun Asha Kalra di.

Thank you Anu, Sheena, Reena, Vibha and KumKum for making to the event. Thanks to my cohost Arun and our better halves for making this happen. We missed all the others who were hoping to come but could not come and those who were unable to make it. We hope this will lead to a chain reaction as we have more meetings for our region.

Arun Asha Kalra’64

It was our great pleasure to host a small get together for the Hardonians from our area and the neighboring area. Some of them gave us a real pleasant surprise while they were driving through Richmond and stopped for lunch. It was so nice to meet all the people who could make it. We got to know some of the faces to go with the names that we knew; and to learn a little bit more about them. We also shared our thoughts and plans for the future direction of this group.

Feelings expressed by attendees

Anuradha Soi ’78

I was looking forward to my first Hardonian reunion after more than 35 years of graduating. Dr. Asha & Dr. Arun graciously hosted us. I had a fun afternoon of fellowship & was so inspired by everyone’s stories, their personal and professional successes. I enjoyed reliving college time memories and to top it off we had an enlightening meditation session organized by Dr. Kumkum. Looking forward to furthering the connections I made.

Vibha Mishra’ 70

“Greetings !! My visit to Richmond ,VA was very pleasant. I met with our beautiful young Hardonians. Dr Asha Mishra and her husband Raj‘s welcome, hospitality, and the feast with many tasty items left me speechless. We took many photographs together. It was a great way to network with others. Happy moments of my life !!!!”

KumKum Sood Bhasin ’70

I watched the Richmond Hardonian get together take shape on WhatsApp; on a lark, I perused Kayak  and grabbed a ticket with a car that seemed like a steal. I informed Asha Mishra that I was going to invite myself to her home for the luncheon and for a roof on my head for that night. It was the start of a weekend of hospitality and love showered on me. I was made to cancel my car and was picked up from the airport and dropped off the next morning crossing all limits of hospitality! During lunch, we made easy connections - met as strangers and left as soulmates! I had connected with Asha on Zoom and the phone for the last 10 months but spending 24 hours in her live presence left me with an impression of her compassion, love and zest for life that Zoom  cannot capture. I felt loved and enjoyed every moment of my stay. Arun Ashaji invited us to her home for dinner that evening and it was a precious evening. Meeting Anuradha, Reena, Vibha and Sheena was joyful to the core. Vibha was accompanied by her son and we tormented him with matchmaking- poor soul! We also resolved to give serious thought to a ‘Family Connection” service for Hardonians and their families!!

Reena Jain’ 83

It was nice meeting Hardonians from different generations under one roof! I felt the same old Hardonian warmth, care, wisdom and brains :)
